Poker

In the game of Poker, players are dealt cards face up in a rotation. After the first player receives a jack, the turn is passed to the next player. This process continues until all players have dealt at least two cards. Afterwards, the turn to bet and deal cards passes to the next player. The dealer shuffles the cards. Anyone can shuffle the cards, but the dealer is the last to do so. Anyone who makes a bet before the dealer must offer his shuffled pack to his or her opponent.

The aim of poker is to win by creating the highest possible hand. The player who consists of two cards with the same rank is said to have a straight. A flush, on the other hand, is made up of five cards that are the same suit. If two players have four fours of the same rank, then the player who has the highest hand wins. The other player with a straight and a high pair, however, is a loser.

The game of poker’s origins are obscure, but there are some ideas that tie the two together. Some historians say that the word “poke” was a slang used by card hustlers who cheated unsuspecting opponents. Then, later, the word was shortened to “poker” in German, a new version of primero. In North America, poker came from the French settlers.
